BLOG: Blog v Wiki
In the world of media, there are many several ways to express someone's ideas, thoughts, and opinions, as well important form of communications. Two of those way come in the forms of blogs and wikis. What is actually is a blog or a wiki? A blog is an online journal, providing a platform for any writer to upload content and publish it. A wiki is a web site that can be edited by anyone allowing users to work on the same page as well expand and editing it. In comparison, blogs and wikis main purpose is to share data and interactive with its user in forms of text, pictures, and videos. Anyone can access both through the internet. The main difference as stated before is the type of person or who owns the site and the form of Blogs is meant to share by one or group of people, however besides them, no one else can add or edit them. In the case of wikis, it's open to anyone that is able to connect to it, and its main goal is to collaborative and grow with additional new contents, mainly text base.
In today's networked world, there is an importance of convergence, as technology is growing, it allows more people to create their own voice in this expanding networked world. With some many ideas from many different points of views, users might get a piece of the whole picture especially in today's cultural and political atmosphere . In recent years, large companies has brought several social media platforms, for example Facebook buying Instagram in 2012 and WhatsApp in 2014 in order to keep the networked world closes allowing users from each three sites to join a second or third site, enabling growth culture and communications for users but as well as money for Facebook.
Blogs can be used for collaboration and we see it in forms of sharing blogs across social media, as it allows new users to visit the page and even take ideas and expand it on their own. Plus many that follow blogs can interact with the author and others through the comments sections as well allow them to put a piece of their voice on the blog and interactive with other users.
In the case of wikis, one famous example is Wikipedia, however another new use for a wiki that has not ben done yet can be use to can be in form of being a traveling page for a small area or region. People who owns small businesses or rent small hotels or homes can collaborate in creating a wiki if they don't have the resources to create their own personal page or don't have money to hire a professional marketing agent.
